Hello Friends,
Holiday season is coming near, and one of the most frequently visited destination is Theme Parks. They are enjoyed by families, as well as kids. But their tickets are sometimes very expensive. However, there are a few very simple techniques to get the tickets at much cheaper price. In fact, I have always used these techniques, and have saved lots of money on tickets. Here are those tips, and try these in the order mentioned below:
1. Craigslist: Most of the times, local residents have received discount tickets or discount coupons (such as 50% off) for local theme parks. This is because, theme parks always encourage to get local residents as much as possible. And the local residents normally sell their tickets/discount passes on the local craigslist. For example, if you have to go to Sea World in San Antonio, then try sanantonio.craigslist.org and search for Sea World Tickets. You will be amazed to see the discounts over there. In fact, once I was able to get discounted tickets from a Sea World employee itself by just doing this simple search on Craigslist. This is a very effective method, and yields results most of the times.
2. eBay: Second place to find such discounted tickets or discount coupons is eBay. Don't be surprised. Just go to eBay, and search for any theme park tickets there, and tons of results will come up. The discount might not be as high as available through Craigslist, but still much cheaper than the normal tickets. I was able to buy DisneyWorld tickets from here at almost 30% discount!!
3. Coupon Websites: In case both the above methods fail, then you need to start looking for coupons. There are many websites on internet that sometime have discount codes or discount coupons for Theme Park tickets. Discount codes are used while buying tickets direcly from the websites of theme parks, and discount coupons are used while buying tickets at theme park gates. In either case, you end up saving money. I had used a coupon code to buy tickets of Universal Studio, and ended up saving close to $100 in tickets for my family! To find such websites, do google search such as Promo code for Universal Studios. And lot of results will come up. You will need to spend some time to find the best coupon code available.
4. Local Coupons: In some rare cases, there are no coupons available on the internet. In such cases, try to find coupons from the lobby of hotel where you will be staying. Or visitor centers of that state or city carry such coupon booklets that have such coupons. And these are completely available free of cost. I once used a local coupon for a theme park which entitled me for a 2 day stay at just 1 day's price.
5. Website of Theme Park: In case you are not able to find any discounted ticket, and not able to find any coupon code, then directly go to the website of that theme park. Most of the times, theme parks offer some discount on the tickets that they sell through their websites. Such tickets can be immediately printed, and taken to park gate.
6. Call the Theme Park: In the rare case (very rare case) that all the above methods fail, then you will have to buy the ticket directly at the theme park gate. Which, of course, is the most expensive option. However, there might still be a chance to save the money there. Before going to the theme park, call their ticket office (numbers are available on their website), and ask them if they have some sort of promotion running for tickets bought at their gate. It is possible that they might be running a non-advertised promotion, which they will happily tell you (as they are getting new customer). I had once called up a theme park when all the above methods failed, and they told me that if I bring an empty Pepsi can, I will get 15% off on the regular prices!! Just a call saved me a lot of money.
All the tips mentioned above are absolutely valid tips, and always work. Its best to try them in the order mentioned above. Just follow these simple rules, and you will never have to pay full price for any theme park ticket.
Happy Holidays!!
